Photo submissions for Laguna Bluebelt’s 2015 Photo Contest celebrating Underwater Parks Day will be accepted from Jan. 17- 31 in professional and amateur categories.

The contest aims to educate and promote awareness of Laguna’s Marine Protected Areas thus ensuring that future generations can enjoy the coast.

Entrants may submit one photo taken within the last year in the Marine Protected Areas. For more info: visit lagunabluebelt.org.

 

 

 

 

Central American Artists Put on a Show   

“Inflorencence,” currently open at Salt Fine Art gallery, 1492 S. Coast Highway, is an exhibit of works by Cecilia Paredes, who paints her body into backgrounds of damask and chintz, forests and deserts.

Peruvian artist Olga Sinclair and the Panama-born Victoria Herra are included in the show, which runs through Feb. 28. There will be a artist’s reception from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Art-A-Fair Calls for Artists

The Laguna Beach art festival Art-A-Fair will hold its Jury Day on Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club, 777 Laguna Canyon Rd. They are seeking new artists for the 49th annual season, to be held June 26th – Aug. 30.

Artists are invited to bring their work between 8 and 11 a.m. to be juried by professional fine artists and master crafts-persons. The jury will look for excellence in conception, execution and presentation as well as high levels of creativity and technical competence. All media may be submitted and artists may jury with more than one medium. Three original works are required for each medium. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be given that day from 4 – 4:30 p.m.
