Editor,

This past weekend, the Interfaith Council of Laguna Beach held its annual Big Sunday Food Drive. At Albertsons, Pavilions, Ralphs and Whole Foods, volunteers asked shoppers to buy a bit extra to help stock the shelves of the Laguna Food Pantry. The community’s response was wonderful. The Interfaith volunteers collected close to 3,000 pounds of non-perishables, as well as $500 in cash donations.

We are proud to be a part of a village that cares for its neighbors who need help. Our deepest thanks to the Interfaith Council’s member churches, the volunteers who planned the event, those who worked so hard at the stores, and the generous residents of Laguna Beach who dug a little deeper into their pockets.

Andy Siegenfeld,

The author is chair of the Laguna Food Pantry.
