Learning Link, an interactive center for Laguna Beach parents and children ages 36 months old to 5 years, will open Monday, Jan. 4 to provide parents and young children a supportive learning environment designed to prepare children for kindergarten, the school district says.

The free center will open from 9 to 11 a.m. daily, at 811 Manzanita Dr., in room 90, above the Laguna Beach Community Pool. Center activities consist of art projects, fine and gross motor development activities, a culturally and linguistically diverse library, language development activities and health information.

A variety of specialists with backgrounds in psychology, speech pathology and special education will be available at the Learning Link to offer tips for supportive parenting, ideas to promote early learning and provide opportunities to build stronger social relationships. Children will also be screened to identify any developmental delays and referrals will be made to appropriate agencies for further evaluation and intervention. Monthly parent education forums on health, safety, nutrition, kindergarten readiness, language development, child development and other topics will be conducted.

“Our goal is to provide an accessible and creative learning environment to help parents connect with their child in a supportive and meaningful way,” said early learning specialist Sandee Bandettini in a statement.

To register for the Learning Link, parents are required to fill out a form on the district website. For more information, please contact Sandee Bandettini at [email protected].
