Women’s rights advocate Eileen Padberg will discuss her new book, “Out of My Lane” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at Laguna Beach Books, 1200 S. Coast Highway.
Padberg, a 60-year-old Republican political consultant from Orange County, embarks on a journey to aid Iraqi women start new businesses, get jobs and take advantage of training during the rebuilding of their country after the 2003 invasion by coalition forces.
Padberg learns the most formidable obstacle to Iraq’s integration of qualified women into the workforce is the U.S. government.
Padberg served on the board of WisePlace, formerly Santa Ana YWCA, and currently mentors women previously homeless women towards a life of independence.
