Job Fair Comes to Campus
The high school’s college and career center hosts a job and technical education fair Monday, March 20, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in the quad area for all students.
Last year, 200 students attended and many students were hired by employers they met and interviewed with at the fair, said Cyndi Kimball, co-organizer of the event.
“If students can identify a career plan of action first before starting their college search, it makes their college search process infinitely easier,” said Ann Bergen, another co-organizer.

Online Tool Tracks School Performance
A new online tool to show how California’s public schools are performing was to be added to the state Education Department website this week.
The California School Dashboard allows access to several data sources beyond test scores, says an announcement from the Laguna Beach district. The new system includes other indicators, such as graduation rates, career and college readiness, English Learner progress and suspension rates, and puts them all in one location, the statement says.
Laguna Superintendent Jason Viloria says the data will help inform decisions as the district devises its state-mandated Local Control Accountability Plans, where each district must develop a strategy and assess outcomes on eight state priorities annually. The priorities range from hiring fully credentialed teachers to school climate.
