Interim Assignment Becomes Permanent
School officials approved the permanent hiring of Jeff Dixon as assistant superintendent of business services, effective March 29.
Dixon, hired as the district’s director of facilities in 2014, stepped into the post after Dean West left the district in January.
Dixon earned certification by the California Association of School Business Officials and holds business administration degrees from Sacramento State University and the University of Phoenix.
Runners and Jumpers Expected for Track Meet
The city’s annual Boys & Girls Track Meet sets out from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 7, on the Laguna Beach High School field.
All children born in 2002 or thereafter who reside or attend school within the Laguna Beach Unified School District boundaries are invited to attend. Register online at the city’s website.
School Needs Support to Win a Grant
Top of the World Elementary is hoping to win a grant to build a permanent greenhouse on their campus and residents can assist by voting April 19 for the project online at the Seeds of Change grant program.
TOW’s half-acre garden includes 40 raised vegetable beds. Their goal is to construct a permanent greenhouse to increase production.
The aim is to cultivate food for use in the schools and the Laguna Food Pantry, says a Laguna Beach Garden Club statement.
