Breaking the Silence on Mental Health
Clinical psychologist, Dr. Lori Aleknavicius, of Inner Fokus in Laguna Beach, will discuss breaking the silence about teens struggling with mental health at a PTA Coffee Break Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The 8:30 a.m. talk takes place at Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon Road.
She will speak about ways parents can talk to their children to help overcome the stigma of mental health, says an announcement. Parents will also leave with tips and strategies for managing stress, social challenges, and mental health symptoms, the announcement says.
Free to PTA members.
TLC Needs Volunteers
Local adult and teen volunteers are needed for the Learning Club, which is an after-school tutoring program at El Morro Elementary School for students in grades 2-5 who have been recommended by their teachers as needing additional help with homework.
TLC will operate Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from January through May and is sponsored by the Laguna branch of The American Association of University Women.
