Arts Appreciation Begins Early

Chabad Preschool has opened its popular Alphabet Art Program to all children in the community during the month of July.

Created and taught by Chabad preschool teacher, Tracey Belland, the curriculum exposes students ages 3 to 6 to artists Monet, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Vincent Van Gogh.

Practicing Stage Talent at the Playhouse

Several youth theatre classes are available at Laguna Playhouse this summer for children ages 7 through 12. Class fees range from $300 to $400, and scholarships are available.

Musical Theatre and Acting Classes begin July 8-19 and meet daily, from 9 a.m. until noon for two weeks at two locations. Another choice is the Acting Ensemble Workshop, for ages 7 to 9. Both are offered at the Laguna Playhouse.

The Kids on Broadway Workshop presenting “Annie the Musical,” for ages 9 to 12 and suitable for beginners as well as those with intermediate skill levels, will take place at Aliso Viejo’s Soka University.

Locals Rock LMU

Laguna residents Hannah Dawe and Dashel Pierson Plesa made the Dean’s List, earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, for the spring semester at Los Angeles’ Loyola Marymount University.

 

Camp Promises to Empower Girls

Living Your Gifts, a community for girls founded by Susan Hough and Jennifer Hutchinson, will host their first summer camp beginning on July 9 at Laguna Beach’s Congregational Church.

The three-week, 1 to 4 p.m. program of six sessions is for girls 11 – 14 to discover how to share their gifts with each other. Registration information can be found at: www.livingyourgifts.com.
