Water Issues on Tap at Conservancy

 

The next Laguna Canyon Conservancy dinner meeting will be held Monday, April 4, 2011 at Tivoli Terrace restaurant, which is on the Festival of Arts’ grounds at Irvine Bowl Park.

 

The program will be presented by board member John Keith who will discuss water issues.

 

Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members and may be paid at the door with prior reservations.

Gardeners Explore Local Food Growing

 

Horticulturist Steve Hampson, a plant buyer  at Roger’s Gardens, also described as an “edible gardener extraordinaire,” will speak at the general meeting of the Laguna Beach Garden Club on Friday, April 8, at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

 

Hampson will discuss what, where, and when to plant, prune, and harvest vegetables, seasonal herbs and spices, fruit trees, berries, and more.  He will offer his personal tips and tricks for everything edible in the garden, including soil preparation, using homemade compost, dormant fruit tree spray treatments, and new vegetable varieties.
