Gardeners Explore Local Food Growing

Horticulturist Steve Hampson, a plant buyer  at Roger’s Gardens, also described as an “edible gardener extraordinaire,” will speak at the general meeting of the Laguna Beach Garden Club on Friday, April 8, at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

Hampson will discuss what, where, and when to plant, prune, and harvest vegetables, seasonal herbs and spices, fruit trees, berries, and more.  He will offer his personal tips and tricks for everything edible in the garden, including soil preparation, using homemade compost, dormant fruit tree spray treatments, and new vegetable varieties.

The social gathering starts at 9:30 a.m. The business meeting begins at 10 a.m. and the guest presentation at 10:30 a.m. For more information about the garden club, visit www.lagunabeachgardenclub.org.
