Xochitl Javier, Miles Riehle and Austin Willhoft received the Boys & Girls Club’s top youth of the year awards at an annual ceremony on Feb. 5, where 185 members received special recognition.
Over 80 families participated in the event at the high school’s Artist’s Theatre, which recognizes youth for improving their community by being positive, helpful and caring.
The club’s most prestigious tribute was awarded to young people who demonstrate strong moral character, community service involvement and leadership skills. The main branch recipient was Xochitl, a 10-year member; TLC’s Miles, a three-year member also serves as Torch Club co-president; and the teen center’s Austin, is a high school senior, five-year club member and served as president of the Keystone Leadership Club.
Austin will go on to compete for a regional award.
