Classes at Laguna College of Art & Design resumed last week and the campus is buzzing with fresh faces.

Joining the Illustration faculty is Luc Desmarchelier, a veteran artist whose film credits include “Shrek,” “Corpses Bride,” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” He has worked as an illustrator, designer, art director and production designer in advertising, feature animation and live action film since 1984.

“We are very excited to have Luc join the Illustration program,” said Michael Savas, the illustration department chair.

New to the game art division is 20-year computer graphics teacher Mark van Langeveld, who holds a Ph.D. in computing from the University of Utah. His industry experience includes designing and directing interactive music videos for Sting and Peter Gabriel, working on video games in varied roles, and designing and directing the first major interactive TV show at Microsoft.

“Great faculty make for great students, and we are proud to have so many esteemed instructors, who are leaders in their fields and choose to teach at LCAD,” said President Jonathan Burke.
