Columnist Errs in Straying into Politics

Editor,

Nice article by James Utt.

He is really growing as a writer.

However, I do not see the necessity of making his article about a fire political in nature:  i.e., “Rohrabacher-red CDM”.

It’s like the actors who ruin a perfectly good awards show by tossing in their personal opinion about politics.  They need to find their own platform.

If Mr. Utt wants to write a political article – then please accept his writing – just do it as an “op-ed” … not a sometime “Heart Talk” column writer in your paper.

Op-ed let’s the reader know it is political and they can make a choice about whether or not to read it.

  1. Great LTE, and completely agree. Same goes for a number of the other columnists too, as well as the less than balanced reporting on “city affairs.”
