Bill and Sue Gross donated $1 million to the clinic’s endowment fund over the past two years, the clinic announced this week. They are long-time supporters of the clinic and have also helped fund daily operations and the Teen Clinic.

“We toured the clinic a few years ago with our son, Nick, and we were impressed by the volume of patients served and full spectrum of health programs provided,” Sue Gross, president of the Gross Family Foundation, said in a statement.  “Like all residents of Laguna Beach, we want to see our community healthy, so investing in the clinic was a natural choice for us.”

The clinic’s endowment fund contains $1 million and was established in 2010 to ensure the organization’s self-sufficiency. Gifts to the endowment fund have been trickling in over the past few years, said a clinic spokesperson.

“We are blessed to have been the recipients of such generous gifts from Mr. and Mrs. Gross that enable us to provide our health services,” said Roya Cole, chief financial officer and board treasurer.

“The clinic is so vital to the health of our community, I wanted to make sure it continued its work well into the future, providing excellent medical care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay,” stated George Heed, board president.

The clinic serves more than 4,200 patients living and working in and around Laguna Beach.
