Parents’ Club Kicks off Halloween

About 300 kids and parents, many outfitted in group-themed costumes, collected treats from Forest Avenue businesses during Laguna Beach Parent’s Club annual Halloween parade at Main Beach last week.

The mostly preschool-aged children honed their trick-or-treat skills en route to Laguna Presbyterian Church.

 

 

Health Expo and Flu Shots at Susi Q

The Susi Q Senior Center will host a free flu shot clinic and health expo in partnership with Mission Hospital on Friday, Nov. 1.

Priority shots will be given to those aged 60 and up and those designated as high-risk for the flu at 8:30 a.m. through 9:30 a.m. From 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. flu shots will be available to the public. Seniors who are covered by Medicare or private insurance are encouraged to visit their physician or a pharmacy to receive their vaccine so that supplies can go to those with no alternatives.

 

Library Friends Host Annual Dinner

Arnold Hano, author of “It Takes a Villager,” will be the guest speaker of the annual “Friends of the Laguna Beach Library Dinner” on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., 363 Glenneyre St.

RSVP at www.friendsofthelagunabeachlibrary.org for the $60 per person dinner using PayPal to reserve your seats.

 

Holiday Boutique Season Begins

The annual Art and Jewelry Boutique is Sunday, Nov. 3 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Woman’s Club on St Ann’s Drive.

Live music and refreshments accompany the display of creativity by more than a dozen artists.

Proceeds from a silent auction will go towards the Laguna College of Art and Design scholarship.

 

Wellness Center Welcomes Visitors

Laguna Aesthetics and Family Wellness Center is holding a holiday open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1100 S. Coast Highway, Suite 212, in the Village Faire Shoppes.

Meet owner Shien Lin Garrett, who has specialized in dermatology and aesthetic medical procedures for 13 years, and learn about services offered which include facial medical procedures, dermatology, acupuncture, skincare, nutritional counseling, massage, body sculpting treatments, vein therapy and nailcare.

Turning Sweets Into Service

Excess Halloween candy can be donated to Operation Gratitude, which sends the candy to U.S troops stationed overseas, and is being collected by the Laguna Beach chapter of Lion’s Heart Service Group.

Collection bins will be located at the Laguna Beach Library’s children’s section and Thurston Middle School from Nov. 1-7.

Readying for Hunger Bowl Week

Montessori School of Laguna Beach joins the city on Monday, Nov. 4-8, in a food drive, to raise awareness, share food and participate in the community. Nonperishable food items will be collected at the school in waste management receptacles.

Students will also contribute their decoupage bowls to the Wednesday, Nov. 6, World Hunger Bowl fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. at Mozambique restaurant.

 

Learn Juicing From Market Experts 

Whole Foods Market team members Felipe Sterling and Tina Chaturvedi will be presenting the basics of juicing on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Laguna Beach market.

Their demonstration will focus on instruction about the best ways to juice, and the nutritional benefits of drinking fresh vegetable and fruit juice.  Recipes using winter vegetables will be shared during this presentation.

 

Legion Conducts Veterans Day Ceremony 

Veterans’ service protecting the nation will be honored in a ceremony open to the public on Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., organized by the Laguna Beach’s American Legion Post 222 at Legion Hall, 384 Legion St.

Frank Sellers of Long Beach’s Veterans Hospital serves as the keynote speaker.

 

Travel Agency Hosts Open House

Laguna Travel invites the public to a wine and cheese reception Thursday, Nov. 7, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. to learn about special cruise offers.

Obagi Opens Laguna Office

Obagi Skin Health Institute, led by doctors Zein Obagi and Monika Kiripolsky, opens its new location in Laguna Beach with an open house ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.
