Sapphire Food Fare Cancelled

 

The food fare organized by Laguna Beach’s Sapphire restaurant for Saturday, Nov. 12, in Laguna Niguel was cancelled due to a storm forecast.

 

 

Decorating Gardens for the Holidays

Learn tips on how to include your garden in holiday decorating plans at the  Laguna Beach Garden Club meeting Friday, Nov. 11.

 

Horticulturist Ruben Flores, owner of the local Laguna Nursery and award-winning landscape company Visionscape, will share his creativity and design experience for holiday gardens beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church’s Tankersley Hall, at Forest and Second Street downtown.

 

Flores, a champion and supporter of the South Laguna community garden, was recently named the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce’s beautification committee

 

There is no admission charge for first-time guests.

Workshop Helps Women Define Their Legacy

Diane E. Wegener of Edward Jones and R. DeDe Soto of The Soto Law Group will host a free one-hour workshop on how woman can define and establish their own legacy.

 

The workshop, Thursday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m., at the Laguna Beach offices of Edward Jones, 1100 S. Coast Highway, Suite 219, will help participants address how to define who and what they want to support in perpetuity and how to avoid common mistakes.

 

 

Understanding Kids’ Development

The public is invited to hear speaker Clay Roberts conduct a half-day workshop on enhancing children’s developmental assets Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 1-6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.

 

Thanks to the generosity of Mission Hospital the workshop is free of charge, but but will require an RSVP to Elena Mendoza at [email protected] or 949-494-2535×105 by Monday, Nov. 14.

HAMS Promote an Under Used Lifesaver

 

The limitations and strengths of family radio service devices, available in most electronics stores for less than $50, is the topic of the Laguna

Beach HAMs 6:30 p.m. meeting, Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Laguna Beach Police

Department.

 

The public is welcome to attend and bring along their FRS radios to join in a practical exercise that could be a life saver, says John Kountz, radio officer for the Laguna Beach Emergency Communications Team.

 

Helping Hearts Needed for Blood Drive

 

Hearts of Montage, the volunteer outreach organization founded by the employees of Montage Laguna Beach, is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive open to the public on Tuesday, Nov.  22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hotel’s grand ballroom III.

 

All donors will receive complimentary valet parking, a $5 coupon for Acapulco, two VIP tickets to the Laugh Factory, and may enter a regional drawing for a $500 shopping spree.
