Kenya Orphans Receive Church’s Gifts

Kenyan girls receive dresses made by Laguna seamstresses, who are at work again on another shipment in February for a school in Africa.

The public is invited to hear Hoag Hospital physician Dr. Colette Cozean, who leads Laguna Presbyterian Church’s East African Partnership, describe their efforts to improve the health and nutrition of orphans in Kenya during a presentation Friday, Jan. 20.

A $15 per person African style dinner prepared by Mozambique will be served at 6:30 p.m., which will be followed by a presentation on the recent mission trip by Cozean and her team. They visited well sites, hospitals, farms, a university, and an orphanage.

“One of the highlights of that trip was when the group presented dresses and shorts made in Laguna Beach, for disadvantaged Kenyan children,” said congregant Stan Carmichael, who went on the trip last October.

The presentation takes place at Tankersley Hall on Second Street between Forest and Mermaid at 7:30 pm. RSVP to Dave Sizer at 714-838-0318 by Sunday, Jan. 15.
