Four-footed Celebrity Steps Out for Pet Parade

The Laguna Board of Realtors and affiliates will be holding their 17th annual Pet Parade and Chili Cook-Off on Sunday,

Sept. 29 at Tivoli Too!

Pet owners of all ages can compete for awards by entering pets in six different categories and both pet and owner will participate in a pet parade to be judged by local animal enthusiasts. Aragon, featured in the “Glee” television show and owned by a local resident, is expected, according to Julie Coleman, an Indy ad representative, who described the celebrity feline as “a famous fat cat.”

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. with pet registration from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.  Entrance fees are: adults, $10, children $5, and under 5 are free. Pet registration is $10 per animal.

‘My Secret Garden’ Opens its Door

My Secret Garden, a new Laguna Beach boutique, offers plant arrangements in varying containers of metal, ceramic, wood, glass and even vintage trucks and shoes.

Workshop Promises a Path to Happiness

Firefighter Memorialized

Laguna Beach Fire Capt. Steen Jensen, who passed away on June 12, 2012, was remembered last Saturday, Sept. 21, in Colorado Springs, Colo., during a service by the International Association of Fire Fighters.

The service at the Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial and Wall of Honor honors the sacrifice made by professional fire fighters and paramedics who have given their lives in the line of duty during the previous year.

Two off-duty members of the Laguna Beach Fire Department traveled to Colorado to participate in this ceremony.

 

Lotus Yoga Starts Young

Cho’s Academy, Lotus Yoga Laguna will be hosting Mindful Octopus, a  storytelling yoga program for kids 3-6.

The classes will be held Tuesdays at 3:10 p.m. beginning Oct. 1- Nov. 5; a second session starts Nov. 15-Dec. 17.

Laguna Scores Well on List of Best Spots

1.3 datebook best of  Laguna Beach, Calif.Laguna Beach has just received numerous honors in the Orange County Register’s newly released “Best of Orange County 2013,” People’s Choice Awards and Critics’ Picks in their 20th annual edition.

Laguna’s Main Beach took the number one spot for people’s choice, best beach. Some other local winners include, Hobie Surf Shop, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Zinc Café, Casey’s Cupcakes, Avila’s El Ranchito, Z pizza, and Ruby’s Diner to name a few.

The “Best of Orange County” results were based on nearly 12,000 people voting to determine the top three winners in 70 categories, with 14 categories of Register Picks expanding the coverage. Voting was open from May 1-31.
