Season Concludes at Southern Section Finals

Laguna’s cross county season ended with the section finals this past Saturday, Nov. 21, at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Cross-country is one of only two sports in the Southern Section that are divided into divisions based on enrollment. Track is the other. Of five divisions, Breakers are in D-4 for schools with 601 to 1,420 students. Enrollments for single sex schools are doubled for placement purposes. The top 16 teams in the preliminary meet advance to the section finals. The top seven teams in each division of the finals advance to the state meet.

The boys team concluded their 17th consecutive section final with an 11th place run, one spot better than 2014, and a team score of 255:

Penn Nielsen, Sr, 16:44.3, 34 place

Drake Butler, Sr, 16:57.4, 43 place

Ryan Whitlock, Jr, 16:58.7, 44 place

Luc LaMontagne, So, 17:21.6, 62 place
