Two retired former professional ice hockey players were arrested by Laguna Beach police after midnight on Friday, Dec. 21, after allegedly attacking a man, who confronted them for cutting in front of his vehicle in a drive-through lane at a fast-food restaurant, police said.

Jean Francois Jomphe, 39, of Aliso Viejo, a former Anaheim Ducks player, was arrested for misdemeanor battery and vandalism, while Richard Anthony Costello, 49, of Dana Point, a member of the ’84 U.S. Olympic team who later played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, was arrested for suspicion of assault, said Capt. Jason Kravetz, adding that details of the confrontation are unclear as the report is incomplete.

Jomphe allegedly punched the rear window of a vehicle containing five young adults, Kravetz said.
