A 25-year-old Laguna Niguel man who had fallen from an ocean bluff was airlifted by helicopter from a south Laguna Beach around 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 31, police said.

Emergency personnel were told the man was sitting on the rocks and had fallen about 20 feet off of a cliff near Secret Cove, Sgt. Tim Kleiser said.

“At this time, it is unclear how he exactly fell,” said Kleiser. It is also unknown if alcohol and or drugs was a factor, he said.

The man struck his head during the fall, but his injuries do not appear life threatening, he said. The male was airlifted by an Orange County Fire Authority helicopter to Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo.
