TOW's hot-shot fifth grade spellers take on their cross-town rivals this Thursday.

Fifteen fifth-grade finalists from El Morro and 14 from Top of the World will compete for top honors this Thursday, April 14, in an annual spelling competition.

The final round is scheduled for the El Morro multi-purpose room at 6:30 p.m. Family members and students are invited to enjoy the event and cheer for their classmates.

Asst. Supt. Nancy Hubbell and parent Bill Steel for the fourth consecutive year will serve as spelling bee judges. PTA co-chairs Carrie Reynolds and Laura Keller presided over the event at both schools.

“It’s a great event for these fifth-graders and every year it is spiced with a bit of friendly competition between our two elementary schools making it even more fun,” said Reynolds.
El Morro’s finalists, pictured with Steel and Principal Chris Duddy, are Jack Loechner, Charlie Rounaghi, Guy Thomas, Ariadne Fernandez, Sophia Diaz-Anderson, Ashlyn Stewart, Bianca Brock, Daniel Nash, Calem Lindsey, Sydney Huang, Julia Bowman, Marissa Schatz, Joey Ravenna, William Cahill and Max Blanchard.
