Students showcased their countrywide knowledge with presentations on the nation’s 50 states at the El Morro State Fair recently.

Students sang lively state songs and viewed student-created exhibitions. Dressed in apparel depicting their state’s interesting attributes, students described their state’s history with illustrated charts and shared food samples and souvenirs with their classmates and the audience.

The State Fair concludes with the students’ state report, a research project for students to gather factual evidence from written and online resources.

Fifth-grade department chair Jay Williams said, “The project entails many standard based research and writing skills, which the students incorporate into their work and demonstrate with their successful completion of the project.”
