Laguna Beach Live! closes this First Sundays season with a May 1 concert by Auria, a voice, flute and harp ensemble playing traditional and classical music in arrangements for solo, duet and trio.
The concert will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Studio 8 at the college, 2222 Laguna Canyon Road, and guests are encouraged to come early enough to visit the college’s art gallery, which opens at 2 p.m., in order to take in the current exhibition.
Soprano Yolanda Mitchell West will be accompanied by flutist Michael Morton and harpist Andrea Thiele.

Tibetan Flute Player Performs
Nawang Khechog, a former Buddhist monk and well-known Tibetan flute player will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

Queen of Ragtime Reigns at NCC
Recording artists and international performer Mimi Blais, known as the “new queen of ragtime,” performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, for a special one night only concert in memory of Jeff Stone, former 11-year host of KSBR radio’s Sunday “Ragtime Show.”
Blais was classically trained at Quebec’s Conservatory of Music and Montreal’s McGill University. Ragtime became a way for her to discover talents as an entertainer, story-teller, communicator, actress and composer. She is equally at home with classical, ragtime, folk, jazz, modern, blues, and tango as well.
Concert proceeds will benefit the justice and outreach work of Neighborhood Church’s JOY Ministry (Justice, Outreach and You). Suggested donation: $20 pre-registered, pay at the door; $25 without registration at the door. Reserve tickets by calling Sally at 949-497-2343 or Karen at 949-951-5852.
