Game Art Earns its Own Exhibit

Laguna College of Art and Design will open “The Reunion Tour,” a display of works and workshops by alumni of the game art program, April 7 with a First Thursday Art Walk reception, 6-9 p.m.

The exhibition at LCAD Gallery, 374 Ocean Ave., features work by former students working in game studios and for game developers and will run through April 30.

Alumni will also participate in workshops, mentoring and networking 7-10 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Seven Degrees, 891 Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets are $20.

Artist of Month Draws from Past Experiences

Garry Abel is the featured artist of April at Cove Gallery, 1492 S. Coast Highway. Meet the artist at a reception during First Thursday Art Walk from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.

Able, a palette knife artist, studied with Javier Alvarez at Laguna Canyon Artist Studios and formerly worked as a chef in European hotels. His commissioned works are in private homes in several states

 

 

 

 

 

Faculty Featured in Paris Exhibit

Laguna College of Art and Design faculty and alumni will participate in the Paris Seminar exhibit running April 1-14 in the administration building, 2222 Laguna Canyon Road.

Participants include the college’s chair of fine arts, Hope Railey; student and professional artist, Vanessa Rothe; Florence Art Academy graduate, Sean Forester; and 10 other artists.

A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to LCAD scholarships.

The Paris Seminar will travel to New York and open at the Salmagundi Club April 28.
