Editor,

West Street Beach in South Laguna is probably the most well known beach in Laguna because it is listed in gay-lesbian guides around the world.

Located north of the verdant West St. stairway and south of Aliso Beach and Camel’s Point, it can be reached by car, O.C.T.A. bus #1, a 46-mile route which connects with North San Diego transit in south San Clemente and Long Beach transit in north Long Beach. Laguna’s blue and white buses and summer trolleys also stop at Aliso beach and West Street.

West Street beach is one of Laguna’s largest expanses of sand, has it’s own lifeguard tower, volleyball courts and restrooms. It’s within walking distance of Aliso Creek Inn (located in the canyon east of Aliso Beach) with its 60 moderately priced rooms and suites, all with kitchens — a giant pool and jacuzzi — a fairly priced patio cafe and nine holes of golf. Also nearby is the Sands Cafe on Aliso Beach; the Neapolitan cafe, on Coast Highway near the West Street signal; the beautiful Village Green park with picnic tables and BBQ grills, a block east on Catalina Street; South Swell, donuts and pho; Papa’s Taco’s; the Coyote Grill and the Thai cafe at the Third Street signal.

On the world wide web, google West St beach for more info and there is a new app for everything Laguna. Check  lagunabeachinfo.com and go to West Street for a great summer treat.
