‘The First Grader’ Premiers at South Coast
The Oscar-nominated “The First Grader,” winner of audience awards at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals, will be screen by the Laguna Beach Film Society on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at the South Coast Cinema, 162 S. Coast Highway.
This humorous film follows an old Kenyan freedom fighter’s attempt to get the free education promised by joining a class of first-graders despite the opposition of parents and officials.
Tickets for the film are $15 at the door and $10 for students with ID. $20 buys a film ticket and entry to a holiday potluck reception at 6 p.m. at the Laguna Art Museum.
