Library’s Hush Fills With Classical Music

Friends of the Laguna Beach Library invite the public to enjoy a free concert of  popular classical music with soprano Jenny Wang this Sunday, April 17 at 3p.m.

Trumpeter Closes Out Winter Series

Trumpeter Bijon Watson and his trio, Slice, including keyboard and vibes, concludes the Laguna Beach Live! winter jazz series Wednesday, April 20 at Hotel Laguna.

Shows are at 6 and 7:45 p.m. in the Catalina Room off the hotel lounge. Cover charge is $10 with food and beverages available for purchase. Reservations may be made at 949 494-1151 and will be held until 15 minutes before the show

The summer series begins June 8 with Watson’s Latin Jazz Syndicate.

Festival Award Winner Debuts in Laguna

The Laguna Beach Film Society will debut “Exporting Raymond,” a documentary starring Phil Rosenthal, creator of television’s Everybody Loves Raymond,” Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at South Coast Cinema.

Rosenthal travels to Russia to adapt his sitcom for Russian television and discovers a real comedy filled with unique characters and situations.

Tickets are only $15 at the door, or $20 to enjoy the pre-film reception at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Bank Community room.

Jose Rizo Celebrates a Latin Jazz Legend

Tickets are on sale now for Jose Rizo’s “Mongorama,” a Latin jazz concert Wednesday, May 4, at Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road. This new, nine-piece ensemble formed by Rizo (host of “Jazz on the Latin Side” on radio station KJazz) explores the early Mongo Santamaria charanga-jazz material of the ‘50s and early ‘60s.
