Mayor Leads Off Concert
Besides mayor and former tavern owner, Kelly Boyd will add a new title to his repertoire when he conducts the Community Band in “God Bless America,” opening the 5:30 p.m. concert Monday, July 8 on the Festival of Arts’ grounds
Boyd’s love for music is well established in the culture he created at the Marine Room, which continues to host live performances under new ownership.
The concert will feature many well-known patriotic songs and soloists.
Taking the baton from Boyd, Ed Peterson will conduct the 65-member ensemble, assisted by Pete Fournier and Bill Nicholls.
Resident Lona Ingwerson will provide the concert’s narration.
Admission to the Festival of Arts is free to Laguna Beach residents.
A Summer Night of Dancing
Laguna folk dancers welcome new dancers to join the live music of Madison Avenue Folk at the Neighborhood Congregational Church on Sunday, July 7.
Doors at 340 St. Ann’s Dr. open at 6:30 p.m. and dancing begins at 7 p.m. Refreshments will also be available. A donation of $5 is suggested.

Zimmer Rocks Museum
Laguna Beach Live! will present a performance by classical guitarist Lee Zimmer at the Laguna Art Museum on Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m.
Live! takes place on the second Thursday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Dr., and is free to both museum members and to non-members following typical admission payments.
Wax Ball Holds Down Marbar
Thalia Street Surf shop’s next Wax Ball is set for Thursday, July 11. Gap Dream and Your Ugly Sister will be playing at the Marine Room Tavern.
Doors open at 9 p.m. There is a $5 cover at the door.
