Update from the Chamber

By J.J. Ballestros

As we conclude the first quarter of the year, the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce is content with its overall progress.

We hosted our first Breakfast Panel with StuNews, Firebrand Media, and KX93.5 FM to discuss new and cost-effective ways of promoting your business through local media. We also had a networking mixer at Laguna Beach Beer Company and two ribbon cutting ceremonies at Fonte Day Spa & Laguna Beach Aesthetics and Coast2Coast Art Gallery.

Our Government Affairs Committee, which meets on the first Thursday of every month, has grown in size with new attendees from one of our utility companies and state and federal legislative representatives wanting to see what the Laguna Beach Chamber is working on.

In March, we put together plans for our two largest fundraisers of the year, our Golf Tournament at Aliso Viejo Country Club on July 1, and Taste of Laguna on Oct. 3. We have hired 19th Hole Golf Productions to help us put on the golf tournament.

Our next and most informative event of the year is the State of the City Mayor’s luncheon on May 2 at the Montage. Attendees will learn about the city’s economic, cultural, and community development initiatives, key infrastructure projects, and funding priorities. It’s a great opportunity for residents to connect with their local public officials and hear from keynote speaker Mayor Bob Whalen, as well as the Chamber of Commerce.

I want to thank our Board of Directors, Executive Director Paula Arnold, and office staff for the great work they are doing. I wish everyone a successful and safe April!
