Hats Off to New Seuss Gallery

A new gallery featuring works from the Dr. Seuss collection and selections from the children’s author’s hat collection opens Friday, Oct. 23, at 417 S. Coast Highway with a 6 p.m. ribbon cutting and reception.

Bob Chase, Jr., president and founder of The Art of Dr. Seuss, will be on hand as well as Steven Krajenka, chief operating officer of the gallery, Chase Art.

The Laguna Beach gallery will be the last stop for the hat exhibit, which began touring in the last year. The beloved children’s book author and illustrator died in 1991.

 

Artman Show Looks At Leisure 

3 art seen Eric Zener_Blue Voyager Leisure, showcasing the paintings of Eric Zener and James Rieck, opens at the JoAnne Artman Gallery, 326 N. Coast Highway on Sunday, Nov. 1. An artist reception takes place on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6-8 p.m., coinciding with the Laguna Beach ArtWalk.

Zener is an American photorealist artist best known for figure paintings of lone subjects, often in or about swimming pools.

In Rieck’s newest series, the Los Angeles artist explores the leisure activity of watching television.

 

Eric Zener’s “Blue Voyage” is included in the Artman show.

 

 

New Exhibit Opens at foaSOUTH

A new exhibit of paintings from the Festival of Art’s collection is currently on display at the FoaSouth gallery, 1006 S. Coast Highway, through Jan. 9. The display features both traditional and contemporary works in a variety of mediums.

“These paintings from the Festival’s collection are just a sampling of the colorful art culture from this area over the past century,” said curator Pat Sparkuhl. The gallery is open weekdays from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
