Ready for Pageant’s Monster Mash?
Reviving an event from years past, the Festival of Arts’ transforms its “Pageant of the Masters” backstage into a haunted venue with an artistic twist known as Pageant of the Monsters.
Pageant Director Diane Challis Davy’s take on the season for ghouls and goblins takes place Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 31 at the Festival of Arts, from 6 – 9:30 p.m.
Davy originated the haunted house idea in 1996. This year, its fourth iteration, the creative team of artists and technicians has reunited to resurrect the haunted house as part of the Pageant’s 80th anniversary celebration.
“Over 100 bewitched Pageant of the Masters volunteers will transform into the ghostly passengers of a doomed luxury liner plus other creepy creatures,” Davy said.
“It’s not your usual haunted house. Guests will be directed through the amphitheater, Pageant workshops and stage, which have been transformed into a series of eerie artistically presented vignettes. It will be a little scary and spooky, but lots of fun for the whole family,” she promised.
In addition to the haunted house, the grounds will be filled with other ghoulish tricks and treats including wandering zombies, fortune tellers, mask making and craft fun.

Shelter’s CarnEvil Promises a Spooky Time
Back by popular demand, Kristy Amber Richard and the residents of 637 Glenneyre St. will be hosting the third annual haunted house, “Glenneyre Cemetary: Welcome to the CarnEvil,” with donations benefiting CPS Laguna Beach Teen Shelter.
Prepare to be spooked — a little or a lot — as creepy carnies and come to life in this maze that is guaranteed to fright. Visitors will be guided through a lighted walk through the complex “haunted” by a strange cast of characters.
Doors open at 7 p.m., Oct. 25 and 26 and Oct. 31, 637 Glenneyre St.
