Betting that two hearts are better than one, Laguna Beach resident and heart disease survivor Holly Morrell, founder of Heartfeltcardiacprojects.org, and local heart transplant survivor Kelly Perkins, founder of Movinghearts.org, have joined forces to offer heart screenings that identify cardiac risk factors this Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sport Performance Institute, 2295 Laguna Canyon Rd.

Every three days, sudden cardiac arrest kills a young athlete, who typically is not screened for heart risk factors when undergoing a routine physical.

Heartfelt Cardiac Projects and Moving Hearts offer cardiac screenings for ages 5 and up for a tax deductible donation of $85 per person. Make an appointment by visiting www.HeartfeltCardiacProjects.org and clicking on “schedule a screening.”

“We simply want to prevent a tragedy and help people live a full life,” Perkins said.

  1. This organization is so valuable! Thank you, Holly and Kelly, for doing what you do. For their own peace of mind, I wish more people would take advantage of the great screenings you offer.
