El Morro’s Boo Blast Halloween carnival is set for Friday, Oct. 25, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at El Morro Elementary School.

The annual PTA-organized event knits together with help from hundreds of volunteers and El Morro families as well as local sponsors.

Spooky Science Haunts Center

Creepy crawlers, giant pumpkins, and make-your-own slime ooze their  way to Santa Ana’s Discovery Science Center (DSC) beginning Oct. 5, for a month of Spooky Science.

Guests will explore a 3-D maze, investigate screaming balloons, get up-close-and-personal with real spiders, and practice their werewolf howls at our “phases of the moon” learning station.

Special events on weekends include costume extravaganzas, Dr. Sue’s Insect Zoo, a magician, and a mini-pumpkin giveaway.

Tickets: adult, $15.95; children 3-14, $12.95.

 

Halloween Among the Animals

OC Parks gets in on kids favorite holiday with Halloween Zoo-tacular at the OC Zoo in Irvine Regional Park, 1 Irvine Park Rd., Orange, Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests are invited to trick-or-treat through the zoo, take part in a Halloween scavenger hunt, create crafts, and face painting. The first 100 children entering the Halloween Zoo-tacular in costume will receive a free gift.

Halloween activities are free with $2 admission; parking is $5 per vehicle on weekends and $3 during the week.
