Drama, Terror and Even Humor Emerge on Stage

The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre series presents “Number The Stars,” based on the little known history of Danish resistance under Nazi occupation as told by a 10-year-old girl who finds the courage to save her best friend’s life.

Donna Inglima will direct the work written by Lois Lowry and adapted by Dr. Douglas W. Larche. Performances are Thursday and Friday, Feb. 19 and 20, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Laguna Playhouse Moulton Theatre.

Laguna Beach resident Emmalisa Randrup, 13, is cast as the central character, Annemarie Johansen. Her father, Nils, is an advisor on the play, because his great-grandfather hid a Jewish family and helped them escape to Sweden and survive.

Local holocaust survivors will be participating in a Q&A after each performance.

All tickets are $12.50. Group tickets are available through Kathy Bonner, 949 497-2787 x 229.
