The Laguna Beach Water Polo 14-and-under girls team brought home the bronze medal from the recent Winterfest tournament at Fullerton College, which featured some of the strongest teams throughout the state and the Laguna team competing in the top flight division.

Laguna’s balanced team effort resulted in a solid 12-4 win against Riverside. In the next two games, the Laguna squad leveraged their defensive prowess to shut down their opponents’ offense with a 10-2 victory over Anteater UCI and 12-3 win over Northwood.

In the semi-final match-up against Los Alamitos, the team came out strong and led 2-1 in a difficult first half, but struggled offensively for the remainder, yielding their only tournament loss 8-4.

In the bronze medal game, Laguna squared off against the Extreme Water Polo Club, securing the win 11-5 and the medal.

“This tournament showed the promise and potential of the 14 girls team,” said Chad Beeler, administrator of LBWPC.
