Adam Farsheed emerges from the fog in the JV game with a stunning header against San Juan Hills.

The Laguna Beach High School boys varsity soccer team concluded their pre-season with an at-home 2-0 win over San Juan Hills High School.

Both goals were scored early in the first half. The first goal resulted when Chris Tellez was fouled at the top of the18 yard box. Reece Barton bent the free kick over the San Juan Hills wall and into the upper corner of the net. The second goal came on a cross from Harrison Gregory, which was struck with accuracy and pace by Joseph Rousseau from 20 yards out.

“Although the result was good and we had some strong moments, the team is also aware that it only gets harder from now and we can’t afford to take our foot off the peddle for a second,” said head coach Dan Richards.

Laguna’s defensive back line of Taylor Davidson, Miles Shirley, Mathew Finkelstein and Evan Williams were successful repelling San Juan players as they entered the final third of the pitch, limiting them to only three shots on goal the entire game. The defensive team, which typically includes a currently injured Brogan O’Bryan, has allowed just three goals over seven games in the preseason standings of 4-1-2.

The JV team scored a 2-1 victory over San Juan Hills earlier that day.
