Boys Water Polo
Breakers won their 13th consecutive match going back to last season with a 13-10 victory over Villa Park (SS CIF D-II # 3) at the local pool last Friday. The Spartans could not contain Nolan McConnell who scored nine goals to rally Laguna to the win after a wild fourth period allowed the visitors back in the contest only to let victory slip to the Breakers side. Villa Park stunned Laguna last year with a 14-13 win.
Laguna keeper Erik Henrikson had 19 saves.

Laguna travels to Santa Barbara this weekend to play in the 16-team Santa Barbara Invitational. Breakers open play Friday at Dos Pueblos facing Vista from San Diego. The tournament includes a number of top teams from Northern California. Results will be posted at www.Presidiosports.com

Girls Tennis
Breakers split a pair of matches defeating El Toro 11-7 on Sept. 7 but fall to Newport Harbor 16-2 the following day. Laguna traveled to Corona del Mar this past Tuesday.

Cross Country
Teams continue to run in meets in preparation for the league cluster meet on Sept. 29. Senior Marisa Merchant leads the girls squad.

Girls Volleyball
Breakers opened their 40th regular season this past week with a pair of difficult non-league matches with Corona del Mar on Tuesday and Newport Harbor on Thursday. Breakers are off until Sept. 21 when they travel to Torrey Pines in San Diego for a match with the D-I Falcons. The 32nd Orange County/Dave Mohs Tournament is set for Sept. 23 and 24. Breakers were fifth last year and should be among the favorites this year.  Breakers last won the event in 2006.
