Drake Martinez and Haley Putnam were selected as athletes of the year at the seventh annual LBHS Athletic Booster’s Awards held last week.

Martinez set 20 different play, game, season and career marks in football as the most prolific runner and scorer in the sport’s 78 year history at the school.

Martinez was a two-time all-CIF selection and a rare first team all-OC honoree for the Breakers. The two-way player also set a school record returning four interceptions for touchdowns and will continue with his defensive skills at University of Nebraska next season.

Putnam was a three-year all-league performer for the resurrected softball program and was an all-CIF pick in 2012 when the Breakers set a 28-season school victory mark with a 15-8 record.
