April 21: Laguna 12, Saddleback 1

Blake Burzell picked up his third win of the year and John Ogden provided three innings of relief as the Breakers cruised this past Tuesday, April 21, at Saddleback High School. Laguna scored early and often and were never threatened in their 42nd consecutive league victory. Laguna batters belted 14 hits including five doubles led by Alex Baker, who went three for three with three runs batted in.

April 17: Laguna 7, Costa Mesa 3

Laguna completed the series sweep of the Mustangs with a win last Friday, April 17, at Costa Mesa High School as Zak Kovacic earned the victory with four strong innings of work. Laguna took the early lead and full advantage of the six walks and two hit batters by Costa Mesa (1-17, 0-7) to set up their scoring. Breakers did lose catcher Will McInerny to a hand injury. Hopefully he will be back for the Calvary series. The win extended their all-time series record with Mesa to 55-46

April 15: Laguna 4, Costa Mesa 0

Ashton Goddard pitched three innings allowing only one hit as Laguna cruised to victory at Skipper Carrillo Field. Anthony Norelli, Jeff Bruyntjens, and Will McInerny provided the relief pitching with McInerny’s tough pitching closing the last 1 1/3 innings. Dante Facchio doubled home Zak Kovacic in the first inning for Laguna and two more runs were scored in the second inning off a double by Cal Cochran. Jack Simon scored in the fourth inning off a Norelli hit to complete the scoring. Laguna stranded nine runners during the low scoring game.

April 14: El Modena 8, Laguna 4 @ Angel Stadium

Breakers played well for five innings, but fell to the highly regarded Vanguards (12-5) from Orange in a non-league contest played at the Big A. Five Laguna errors and eight batters reaching base on walks for getting hit by the pitcher contributed to the loss. Breaker batters were held to only four hits.
