Laguna Beach High School students’ ACT and SAT scores exceed national and state averages. The state and national average on the SAT test is 1490. LBHS students scored an average of 1734, not 1799.3 as previously reported.

“Although we had fewer test takers in 2014-15, students really knocked it out of the park!” said LBHS Principal Christopher Herzfeld.

LBHS students also increased their ACT test scores in all five areas, reaching an all-time high. The national average ACT score is 21 and the state average score is 22.5. The LBHS average score is 26.7.

National score trends for the ACT show very flat scores from 2014 to 2015, and SAT national score trends show a decrease in scores from 2014 to 2015.

As College Board plans to release the redesigned SAT in 2016, LBHS is refining and improving existing programs to align with Common Core State Standards, including a higher emphasis on applied problem solving and critical thinking.

LBHS offers mock testing opportunities in conjunction with Princeton Review on Saturdays, which includes practice ACT, SAT and PSAT exams.
