Laguna Beach High School teachers Dawn Hunnicutt and David Brobeck were honored at the Crystal Apple Awards hosted and sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Laguna Niguel Stake Center in Aliso Viejo recently.

Laguna Beach mayor Steve Dicterow along with 300 residents, students and local community leaders from Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel gathered to honor nine teachers from four local high schools.

Students nominated the award winners. Each recipient was presented to the audience by one of their students. “My experience in high school has been extremely elevated because of the time I have spent being a student under David Brobeck,” said LBHS senior Kobe Henderson.

An engraved crystal apple and a recognition plaque from the office of Fifth District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett were also given to each award-winner.
