Letter: Enough is enough

Another panga boat with migrants entering the country illegally crashed and closed Victoria Beach so the demolished boat, with gallons of gasoline, could be cleaned up. This is the Biden/Harris America. Land of the “free for all” for everyone but US citizens. During the last three and a half years, over 12 million people have invaded our border from over 53 countries. The true number is estimated at 20 million, as the number of getaways is unknown.

Migrants who cross the border illegally receive free transportation to unknown US destinations, free cell phones, and thousands of dollars each in EBT/food stamps/ debit cards, hotel rooms, food, health care, and education, all at US taxpayer expense. They’re registered to vote in elections. Without secure elections and borders, we are a puppet state.

Venezuelan gangs terrorize communities like Aurora, Colo. and Chicago, taking over apartment complexes with assault rifles and demanding tenants’ rents. Is Laguna next?

Migrants who have entered this country illegally receive six months to two years of free rent and priority Section 8 housing over citizens. New York City Mayor Adams lamented that 10,000 people a month were destroying the city, and receipts show almost $5 billion was spent on services in the last two years, including $2 billion on housing.

Millions of Americans struggle to survive, but the Biden/Harris administration encourages and funds people who cross the border illegally. On Aug. 28, the DHS announced $380 million in additional migrant housing funding. Liberal cities that lawlessly adopted the “right to shelter” and “sanctuary cities” are revoking those policies – they’ve had enough. Per CPB data, more than 10 million encounters with migrants occurred under the Biden/Harris administration.

A vote for Harris is a vote to continue this travesty. Crime tourism is rampant. Our laws are weak and seldom enforced; police, like our border control, are told to stand down. No bail, reduced sentences and flagrant disregard for our laws weakens our society.

As San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris laid the groundwork for today, NFL draft pick Ricky Pearsall was just shot near Union Square in a broad daylight failed robbery. Unsafe streets with crime, homelessness and drug addicts on nearly every corner. Harris approved the infamous Prop 47 “Safe Neighborhoods Act” title, making $950 in thefts and misdemeanors, resulting in smash-and-grab surges. The botched theft and murder of a New Zealand woman this summer, and gun thefts at Fashion Island are now commonplace. Enough! Vote to save our country. This election is the most important of your lifetime. The future of America literally depends on it.

  1. Well written and true. I can’t wait until 50,000 Haitians are dumped in Laguna. What would the looney LIBS do then? No question the wealthy ones would get the government to
Move them and quickly just like they did in Martha’s Vineyard.

  2. Fifty years ago, I left Laguna for Los Angeles. Soon, I’ll be returning to live out my life in our new home in Laguna. It pains me to know that my return to Laguna will be darkened by the knowledge that I’ll be living in the same town as the writer of this commentary. Where is her humanity? Where is her concern for what might have happened to the people on that boat? Fortunately, the majority of Lagunans are Democrats and will vote for Kamala Harris. Unfortunately, for the first time in my life, I will have to rub shoulders with Trump Republicans. Trump, if elected, would be the first convicted felon and known sexual predator to hold the presidential office and has plans for mass deportations and concentration camps to incarcerate immigrants attempting to build a better life for themselves in this country.

  3. Mz. Zieter, Your comments should not be appearing in pages of The Laguna Beach Independent. The focus of the Independent is local events, local politics and citizen concerns.

If You choose political commentary, why not associate Your “Letters to the Editor” to address the current politics of Laguna Beach?

As of this point no cats or dogs have been eaten by in Laguna, (except by coyotes) and no Venezuelan gangs with assault rifles have taken over any of the apartment buildings in Laguna. Your comments are for the most part just “Weird”.

Your declarations would be better served on a platform like “X” or FOX, but the LB INDY is a “local” paper. If You want to panegyrize Your far right political dogma this is not the appropriate forum.

  4. “They’re registered to vote in elections. Without secure elections and borders, we are a puppet state.” Really?!! Are you not aware that migrants, legal or not, are NOT allowed to vote in any election be it national, state, or city. It is illegal. I’ve heard some far-fetched statements in the run-up to this election (pets for dinner?) but this is patently absurd and hysterical fear-mongering. Our elections are deserving of more respect than this.

  5. Jennifer is correct, it is fact..If this is what you want to live with, fine, but don’t make me, everything you people applaud is unconstitutional and wrong , but hey , reading this truly makes me gag..I live in fear for what they are doing in Colorado and parts of the country, you want to take care of them, they come with nothing, which again is unconstitutional, we have our own American’s living on the streets, do you not see this is #1 to create Marxism..God help us from fools like you..Give me back my country

  6. Wow Barbara, I don’t wanna make this personal but when you say things like “you people” you’re beginning to annoy me. Our country is made up of immigrants, in fact, both my father and mother, Gus and Lea Mathieu were immigrants. Our family was lucky enough to live in Laguna starting in the 60s and back then Republicans were simply the other political party. People had the decency not to call the other side fools, at least not to their face. You say “if we want to live with them” it’s fine by you, but “don’t make me”. Nobody’s asking you to stay here. There are plenty of other countries you can go to.
