The first time I saw Toni I didn’t really see her. She was a young princess flitting through the canyon, coming up for air ever so often to post another Burma Shave rhyme. Her mission was simple: to save the canyon.
Today, after 20 years on the council, she is the empress of Laguna with another mission: save Laguna Beach.
She must do it in the face of another well-heeled operation. Liberate Laguna has come to town with pockets bulging with developers’ money.
If there’s a simple mantra we have learned over the years it’s three words: quaint, modest, lovely. Liberate has three words: more, more, more. They want to take Laguna and turn it into Anaheim or Huntington Beach. To them, the sky is the limit. They will trash all devotion that has made Laguna, Laguna. Four, five or six-story buildings are on the horizon. They would Liberate Laguna simply to get richer. And the Laguna we know will simply get poorer.
Toni Iseman resists all this. That she can’t do it alone doesn’t deter her. That’s where you and I come in. Our message to Liberate Laguna is cease this invasion of opportunistic developers.
We don’t need you and your hired gun architects. Why this unrelenting effort against Toni? She stands in their way.

“Toni is making false and misleading statements about developers supporting the “other candidates.” Joe, Greg, and Walky are big developers, all of whom are supporting and contributing to Toni’s campaign! Why the double standard?” asks Mayor Kelly Boyd. Because she is power hungry and volunteering is not enough she can’t give up the power and control.
Looks like all 12 members of Village Laguna are writing lettters full of lies, misleads and falsehoods all in a desperate reach to keep power over the council. Remember Toni supported a multi story parking structure just like Liberate Laguna she can’t be trusted.
