The Laguna Beach High School Surf Team hosted San Clemente High School at Thalia Street Beach last week.
Principal Chris Herzfeld, also a surfer, hit the sand and cheered the team on.
In boys shortboard, freshman Jake Levine dominated his heat to take first. Meanwhile, senior Mike Chapman found a couple of nice rides in a mostly waveless heat and won on his unique board. He was followed by Dante Madrigal and Andrew Kimball.
Other top finishers in boys shortboard were Willy Hogan and Zach Levine taking thirds and Jeremy Shutts with a fourth.
In the girls longboard, senior Kira Hamilton looked very strong with several stylish rides and finished second.
In boys longboard, Willem Vanderveen caught a nice tube and came out with a classic fist pump cheered from the beach!
In the bodyboard, the freshman boys competed hard with Hunter Johnson taking a third while Spencer Davis finished with a fourth.
In girls shortboard, Paige Vitolo jumped back into the lineup and competed well finishing with a fourth.
The next contest on Dec. 20 takes place at the Southside of Huntington Beach Pier.
