The public school district will host a school readiness workshop for parents and pre-kindergarten children Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Laguna Beach Library.
Pamela Chesney-Algar, the children’s librarian at the Laguna Beach Library, will start the day off with storytime at 10:30 a.m. with a book that focuses on kindness and caring acts. Afterwards, children will complete an art activity that encourages listening, social engagement and kindness.
LBUSD early learning specialist Sandee Bandettini will meet with parents to provide feedback, support and information about the lesson and its connection to school readiness. Parents will receive handouts on healthy child development, effective communication, problem solving skills and books that encourage good character.
A May 4 workshop will focus on healthy growth and development, and the June 1 workshop will focus on encouraging summer reading and tips to promote school readiness.
