Crescent Bay Advisors made a historic run through the Tournament of Champions, winning four games and claiming the 2013 minor division championship by beating the Rancho Niguel Tigers 7-0 on Sunday, June 9.

The VFW majors team also won, the first two TOC championships in Laguna Beach Little League history.

For CBA, Booker Frith pitched five innings of shutout baseball allowing only three hits and striking out seven.

Nolan Naess closed the door with two strikeouts in the sixth inning to secure the win.

The game was close at 1-0 in the fourth inning when Paxton Burzell hammered a homerun to right center field, his first home run at Riddle Field, to give CBA a 4-0 lead. The score stayed that way until the sixth inning when Adam Kerfoot clobbered an inside the park three-run home run to extend the score to its final tally, 7-0.

Aidan McDennon led CBA’s flawless defense with an excellent game at catcher. CBA made zero errors in the game. Naess, Jeremy Hayes, Cooper Noriega, Burzell, Kerfoot and McDennon all had two hits in the game. Will Compton added a single.

“Us coaches were most proud of the kids’ attitudes and the way they supported each other with positive encouragement. This led to great team unity,” said Coach Coby Naess.

Earlier in the tournament, CBA beat Northwood Yankees, 7-2; Irvine Ranch Angels, 6-0; and Aliso Viejo Tigers, 9-8; and ended the season with an overall record of 20 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties.
