LBHS grad Robert C. will be inducted into the Naval Academy Class of 2020 on June 30 and begin six weeks of basic midshipman training as part of Plebe Summer, a training requirement which consists of basic skills in seamanship, navigation, damage control, sailing and handling yard patrol craft. Plebes also learn infantry drill and how to shoot nine mm pistols and M-16 rifles as well as training in moral, mental, physical or professional development and team-building skills. Activities include swimming, martial arts, basic rock climbing, obstacle, endurance and confidence courses designed to develop physical, mental and team-building skills.
Correction: The last name of a LBHS grad that will enter the Naval Academy this summer, was inadvertently left out of the announcement. Robert C. Briggs has been admitted for the class of 2020.
