Local Invited to Compete in Queen of the Beach

Laguna local and LBHS junior Katie Gavin will participate in the inaugural Queen of the Beach Invitational volleyball tournament being played June 24-26 in Hermosa Beach. She will be joined by top high school and college players from across the country playing in a round-robin format with different partners throughout the tournament, accumulating individual points toward being crowned the Queen of the Beach.

Katie will be a senior at Laguna Beach High School next year, plays club with Elite Beach Volleyball and has committed to play beach volleyball at Pepperdine University. There are more than 60 volleyball programs across the country and the NCAA sanctioned its first national championship tournament last month. The Queen of the Beach tournament was founded by Eric Fonoimoana, a 2000 Olympic gold medalist.
