Editor,

The Laguna Food Pantry wishes to thank the many people and organizations that made this year’s citywide food drive the best ever.  Waste Management estimates that it collected well over 10,000 pounds of food to distribute to our more than 500 shoppers weekly.

We are grateful to:

The Housing and Human Services Committee of Laguna Beach for organizing and overseeing the citywide food drive;

Waste Management, whose friendly drivers delivered to the Pantry donations from every corner of Laguna Beach;

Laguna Beach’s public schools, whose students, parents, teachers and administrators once again demonstrated their civic pride and compassion for struggling low-income families;

The Laguna Food Pantry Club at the high school, for showing up on Saturday mornings with smiling faces to sort thousands of cans of food;

Our dear friends at St. Catherine of Siena Parish School, Anneliese’s three campuses, Montessori Laguna Beach, and the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach for caring for our children and our community;

Member churches of the Interfaith Council, without whose faith and support the Pantry could never reach as many families as it does today;

The generous member companies of the Laguna Board of Realtors, who for years have provided heartfelt support to so many worthwhile organizations;

The Hearts of Montage, whose wonderful associates have come through for us since day one;

KX93.5 for lending its airwaves to promote Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week; every household that so thoughtfully placed curbside food items for the Pantry;

Our City Council members and the residents they represent, whose collective vision makes Laguna Beach unique among cities and a model of civic kindness and responsibility.
