Thirteen students from Cho’s Academy Laguna Beach competed at the 23rd Annual KS Choi California Open, held at Cal State Dominguez Hills last month.

Jacob Burdiek took competitor of the day finishing both his opponents by the 12-point gap rule landing highly technical spin back kicks to his opponent.

“Every medal is a victory for our entire team….” said studio owner and martial arts expert Jacob Cho, who opened the academy at 1966 S. Coast Highway in 2009.

Cho’s team, ages 6 to 12, won four gold medals and one silver in open free sparring. Overall, the team performed well with five solid wins and most losses in hard fought close matches.
